1How do I know if I need a new roof?
Your roof doesn’t need to start leaking to show it needs replacing. Other problems can cause worrying, resulting in a roof replacement. It is better to replace the roof if there is extensive damage. for example if your roof is starting sag, purling's and rafters are bowing, if slates persistently keep slipping this can be a sign of nail rot, the old lime parging behind the slate and batten has crumbled away this can cause wind vacuum in the loft space and cause damp issues inside the property
2I have a couple of leaks do i need a new roof?
Persistent leaks in different places are sometimes good signs you need a new roof but worry if your roof is leaking as it doesn't always mean you need a new sometimes slates/tile break or slip in strong winds and a simple repair will be suffice
3How Can I Prolong the Lifespan of My Roof?
Water is the enemy of the roof. If water is not properly channelled away from the roof, it can penetrate and cause big problems. Once damp and rot set into the timbers of a roof, the whole structure’s integrity can be put at risk. The purpose of guttering is to transport water safely away from the roof. If gutters are blocked, they cannot perform their purpose properly. Keeping gutters clear is probably the most basic and most useful task a property owner can undertake. Clearing the gutters provides a good opportunity to make a visual inspection of the roof and roofline. If you spot anything that might be problematic – missing tiles, broken gutters or a rotten fascia – give us a call.
4What Happens If Roofers Uncover Unforeseen Damage?
In the unlikely event that we discover further issues once work has commenced, we will always stop discuss what action you may wish to take before proceeding any further. We will be honest about how much any additional work will cost. If you agree to the additional work, and you don’t have to, we will adjust our quote so there will be no surprises on your final bill.
5Will you need scaffolding to carry out the work
This will all depend on the work be carried out and the contractor carrying out the work. If you only a few slate repairs the contractor will usually just use a set of roof ladders but sometimes this always the case sometimes for small repair jobs a access platform will need to be setup. For complete new roof installation you will have a scaffold setup for both access and safety. ( please note stay away from companies that will carry out a reroof with no scaffold they maybe cowboys and also have complete disregard for both there employees safety and also yours, scaffold isnt just for for a safe access platform it also to reduse the chances of debris falling from a height.)
